In light of the recent events following the match against Maroons FC on February 1st at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Kigongo has received a formal letter notifying him of his suspension due to his disrespectful behavior towards match officials.
The disciplinary hearing convened on February 7th, 2024, has concluded that Kigongo’s conduct during the Sports Club Villa versus Maroons match warrants disciplinary action. As a result, he is suspended from attending the next two home matches, namely against Vipers and Express FC. Additionally, Kigongo is required to undergo a steward training course as part of his re-entry conditions.
The disciplinary committee of SC Villa emphasizes the importance of maintaining respect and integrity within their fan community. They have issued a stern warning that any future instances of hooliganism will lead to a permanent ban from attending all SC Villa home matches.
John Bosco Ssebadduka, the chairperson of the Villa Park branch, expressed his support for the disciplinary decision, emphasizing its significance as a learning opportunity for all fans. He disclosed to Vision Sport that Kigongo’s punishment is just and necessary, and the branch plans to convene to further educate and sensitize fans on Wednesday of the following week.
It’s notable that SC Villa faced repercussions last season, including a deduction of 2 points and 2 goals by the FUFA Competitions Rules and Regulations committee, following an incident where fans attacked match officials during a game against Wakiso Giants at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Looking ahead, SC Villa will be playing away against Kitara FC in Masindi at 4 pm in the Uganda Premier League.
