With 59 stores in 29 cities, Xiaomi is poised to take orders across China. This move comes amid a heated competition in the country’s automotive market, with firms like BYD and Tesla vying for dominance.

At the unveiling of their first electric car, the Speed Ultra 7 (SU7), Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun expressed ambitions to join the top five car manufacturers globally. The company plans to invest $10 billion in its vehicle business over the next decade.

The SU7 boasts advanced electric motor technology, promising acceleration comparable to some Tesla and Porsche models.

But here’s the cherry on top: Xiaomi’s pulling a sneaky little trick out of its hat. The SU7 shares its operating system with Xiaomi phones and gadgets. Smart move, right? They’re banking on their loyal customers to hop on the electric bandwagon.

Now, you might be thinking, “But isn’t the electric car market already crowded?” Well, you’re not wrong. But Xiaomi’s got the golden ticket – they’ve got the green light from the bigwigs. While others are struggling to get a foot in the door, Xiaomi’s waltzing right in.

The SU7 will roll off the assembly line at a fancy plant in Beijing, courtesy of the BAIC Group. And get this – they can churn out a whopping 200,000 cars a year. That’s a whole lot of wheels!

This announcement comes hot on the heels of a fierce price war in the Chinese EV market. Tesla’s slashing prices left and right, while local heroes like BYD are doing the same. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there!

Guess what? Investors are loving it. Xiaomi’s shares shot up by a cool 10% in Hong Kong after today’s big reveal. Looks like they’ve got a winning hand in this high-stakes game of electric dreams.
