The 2026 World Cup final will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, concluding a tournament spanning 16 cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Featuring 48 teams, the event will see Canada and Mexico each hosting 13 games, while the US will host the rest, with the final rounds held exclusively in US cities.
The final game of the 2026 World Cup will happen at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 11. FIFA, the big boss of world soccer, says this. People all over the world love soccer, and the big tournament will be in 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The World Cup starts on June 11 in Mexico City at Estadio Azteca and ends on July 19 at MetLife Stadium. No one knows exactly why FIFA picked these places.
Canada will have 13 games, split between Toronto and Vancouver. Mexico gets 13 games, too, in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The US has the rest of the games in 11 cities.
The first games for Canada, Mexico, and the US will happen in Toronto, Mexico City, and Los Angeles, where their teams play.
MetLife Stadium, where the final is, hosted a big final in 2016. It was the Copa America Centenario, where Chile beat Argentina.
Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca will have the first game on June 11. Mexico is the first country to host the World Cup three times. They hosted it in 1970 and 1986.
Canada’s first game is on June 12 in Toronto. It’s the first time Canada hosts a World Cup game.
Each country’s team will stay close to where they play. The US team will play on the West Coast, in Los Angeles and Seattle.
The knockout games will all be in the US, starting with the quarterfinals. The semifinals are in Dallas and Atlanta, and Miami will have the third-place match.
The 2026 World Cup has more games than before—104 instead of 64. That’s because more teams are playing, 48 instead of 32.
Since the host cities are far apart and have different weather, FIFA divided them into three regions. Some stadiums will have closed roofs, and some will have grass instead of turf. They’ll also make some fields bigger.
