Whitney Wright, a person from the United States who acts in movies for adults, caused trouble when she went to Iran and visited the old US embassy in Tehran.
Wright, who is 32 and from Oklahoma, came to Iran last week. She said on her social media on Monday that she has left Iran. She shared pictures of her visit, including one where she stood next to a lowered US flag at the old embassy. In the picture, she wore a headscarf and clothes that cover her body, which are required in Iran.
The Iranian government says the old embassy used to be a place where spying happened before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. After the revolution, they turned it into a museum. The embassy was where American staff were kept for 444 days, making Iran-US relations worse.
Wright said on her Instagram that she wanted to visit the embassy and other museums in Tehran. She said the negative attention she got online was too much. She wrote, “I’m sharing exhibits from a museum that are never seen. It’s not an endorsement of the government.”

Some people said her visit shows problems with how Iran treats its own people. Wright’s job is considered bad by the Iranian government, and she could be charged for it.
Wright visited Iran after there were big protests and problems in 2022 and 2023, triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini. She died while she was held by Iran’s police because she didn’t wear the hijab, which is required in Iran.
People protested because they wanted freedom for women and didn’t want to be forced to wear the hijab. Since then, the government has tried hard to make people follow the hijab rules.
Actor Setareh Pesiani criticized the government because they let Wright visit but punish their own people for not wearing the hijab.
Wright needed a visa to visit Iran. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they didn’t know about her visit.
The US government says American citizens should be careful if they go to Iran because they could be arrested unfairly.
In September, Iran and the US traded prisoners. The US and Iran haven’t been friends since the US stopped talking to Iran in 1980.
Wright often talks about the conflict between Israel and Gaza on her social media. This is not the first time an adult performer from the West caused trouble by visiting Iran. In 2016, British performer Candy Charms went to Iran for surgery and upset a lot of people.
