Samsung snatches the crown from Apple in phone sales, fueled by AI.
In a big change, Apple isn’t the biggest phone seller anymore. Now, Samsung has taken the top spot after 12 years. This happened as more phones were sold globally, reaching 289.4 million in the first three months of the year.
Samsung made a big comeback, getting a 20.8% share of the market, while Apple had 17.3%. Samsung did this by selling more of their Galaxy S24 models, which have cool AI features.
On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone sales went down to 50.1 million, which is the biggest drop since Covid-19 started in 2022. They blame this on problems in China and more competition from companies like Xiaomi and Huawei. Even though Apple’s sales went down, they’re still the top choice for people who want high-end phones.
Xiaomi is also doing well, grabbing a 14.1% market share with their affordable phones.
People are now waiting to see what Apple will do next. There are rumors they’re focusing more on AI and moving away from making electric cars. We’ll find out more at their conference in June. In the fast-changing world of technology, only the most creative and flexible companies will stay on top.
