The Human Rights Watch, an international rights watchdog, has expressed grave concern over the potential displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Rafah, highlighting the peril it poses to their safety. Additionally, the organization emphasized the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) directive for Israel to avert genocide in Gaza.
Omar Shakir, the Director for Israel and Palestine at HRW, underscored the unlawful nature and catastrophic implications of coercing over a million displaced Palestinians in Rafah to evacuate once again. In a social media post, he stressed, “There’s nowhere safe to go in Gaza. The ICJ has ordered Israel to prevent genocide. The international community should act to prevent further atrocities.”
